Our Sydney Hot Cross Buns Eating Journey: 7 Places We Went For This Easter
It's Good Friday. Have you bought the hot cross buns for this Easter Holiday yet? If not, oh well it's too late to buy from bakeries, but maybe you can try DIY some in your home kitchen like us.
To be honest, we started our hot cross buns hunting 2 weeks ago when all bakeries just started to sell them. However we couldn't stop eating so we ended up finishing over 10 buns from 7 different places even before Good Friday. On the bright side, we get to tell you how we liked them and we definitely know what to buy again for next year.
So, here we go! From 7 to 1...

various branchesBakers Delight's Hot Cross Buns is certainly a delight. They are soft gooey with lovely mix of spice & nice.
6. San Antonio Sourdough Bakery
349 Darling Street, Balmain, SydneyHandful solid deliciousness. The Hot Cross Buns are fantastic warmed up with butter.
5. Organic Republic Bakery
98-100 Glenayr Avenue, Bondi Beach, SydneyWhat revolution! Loved the Hot Cross Buns, very well balanced and solid delicious bun, love the chewy texture. We could eat them all day.
4. Bake Bar
67 Frenchmans Road, Randwick, SydneyBake Bakery never fails producing deliciousness. We're stuck between the regular and gluten-free versions so we got them both. Surprisingly, the gluten-free one is really good!
3. Black Star Pastry
C1, 85-113 Dunning Avenue, Rosebery, SydneyPacked flavours with Spice and very Fruity. The bun texture is a win, it was a very good bite from start to end. Awesome Easter gift boxes too, perfect to gifts.
2. Sonoma Bakery Café
2/9 Danks Street, Waterloo, SydneySonoma close to our heart, one of our favourite Hot Cross Buns, I WANT MORE!!! Very very good bun, nice balance of flavours, good chew.
1. Adriano Zumbo Patisserie
296 Darling Street, Balmain, SydneyZumbo Patisserie the most imaginative, creative and delicously dangerous flavours. The Classic solid good num. The Chocolate Cherry very very nice and the game changed Salted Caramel MIND BLOWN!!!
Oh don't forget the special cute bunny cake from Zumbo as well. Easy to eat not too sweet.
